Ontario School boards were instructed by the government to have School Councils in place in all schools by June of 1996. The purpose of each School Council is to provide the opportunity for all parts of the school community to work together for the good of our students. It will be the structure through which parents, teachers and community members may be able to influence how their school is run.
How does a School Council operate? Regular meetings are being held throughout the year. Everyone - parents, students, teachers and community members - are welcome to attend any and all meetings. Discussions take place on matters pertinent to our school and education in general.
Why should YOU get involved ? "When parents participate, children do better in school, but more than that, they go to better schools." Peter Ross Special Advisor to Dean of Education - York University
